misticanza

ETYMOLOGY

The misticanza is a mixture of herbs that was very popular in the past and constituted an important source of nutrients for the less affluent classes. The name evokes the concept of mixture, referring precisely to the combination of different types of raw vegetables served. It is said that the misticanza has its roots in ancient Rome, when Roman farmers gathered a variety of wild and aromatic green leaves from the fields and sold them in the city markets. This simple gesture reflected the wisdom and practice of using local and seasonal ingredients to create nutritious meals.
